Use These Export Settings For Best Quality

Copy my settings...

Hey!

If you’ve ever tried researching export settings, you’ll quickly notice that there’s a lot of contradictory advice out there surrounding whether you should use CBR, VBR 1-pass or VBR 2-pass. I don’t want to add to that noise but what I can do is share my own export settings and why I use them.

H.264 is the standard format, you shouldn’t need anything else for short form video unless you want the highest quality on the platform. ProRes is higher quality as well as H.265, but results in higher file sizes and longer render times.

I export in 1080×1920, leaving it in 4K creates compression issues when posting to instagram as they don’t support 4K videos. I also check ‘render at maximum depth’ and ‘use maximum render quality‘ to ensure the quality is as high as possible.

I use CBR and set the target bitrate to around 25mbps. For the types of videos I create, these settings don’t need to be super dialled in, but I’ve found these create high quality exports while not being huge in size.

And finally, of course when I have auto-generated subtitles, I turn on captions and select ‘burn into video’

I hope this helps! See you in the next one!
